WINE SPECTATOR’S “WINE OF THE YEAR!”

CLOS APALTA CABERNET BLEND, CHILE 2005

We were thrilled when the Wine Spectator magazine named Clos Apalta their #1 Wine in the World for 2007. We’ve been BIG fans of this wine for almost 10 years. It’s primarily Carmenere plus a fair bit of Cabernet. We recommended this renowned wine to thirsty friends in August as it was arriving in the US. Quite a few of our followers purchased this wine at that time and let’s just say they are VERY happy with their purchase now, particularly since most wines that win this award typically increase in value 400%. Wine Spectator originally rated this wine “Classic 96 Points” commenting: “Gorgeous mocha lead to a rich, velvety palate loaded with currant, fig paste, black licorice, cassis…the long, juicy finish has great density. Should greatly reward cellaring. 96 points” FYI, Clos Apalta is one of a handful of collector level Cabernet blends that world famous winemaker Michel Roland helps craft in South America. This is the first time a South American wine has won this prestigious award. We say “SALUD!”
